FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Is the app free?

Yes. OtobĂŒs Nerede is completely free; no registration, membership or subscription is required. All core features — live tracking, notifications, the map, the trip planner and routine alarms — are open to everyone. There are no ads and no hidden charges.

Which cities does it work in?

The app supports public transport networks in many cities across TĂŒrkiye. Choose a city inside the app to track bus and (where available) tram routes in the listed provinces. The list of supported cities is shown up to date when the app opens, and new cities may be added over time.

How does tracking work?

You choose a route and direction, then the stop where you want to get off. The app tracks the vehicles running on that route live; as one approaches your stop (for example 15, 10, 5, 3, 2 or 1 stop away) you get a notification. You can stop tracking at any time, and it also ends automatically when the time runs out. You can run several tracks at once.

What is a routine alarm?

You create a routine to track the same route and stop automatically at the same time every day — for example on your morning commute to work or school. Tracking starts by itself on the days and time range you pick, and you set the alert thresholds once. That way you don't have to search for the route every morning.

What is the trip planner for?

It suggests a public transport route between two points: which lines to take, where to transfer, and roughly how long it takes. The planner works over the routes supported in the selected city. Once a route is found you can start live tracking for the relevant leg.

Is my location data used?

Your location is used only when you allow it. It is needed to show nearby stops, place you on the map and power optional location-based features. Location is not collected continuously in the background; if you don't grant permission you can still set up tracking by searching for a route and stop. Location use stops when tracking ends. For details see the Privacy Policy.

Notifications aren't arriving, what should I do?

First make sure notification permission is enabled for OtobĂŒs Nerede in your phone settings. We recommend the Google Play version on Android and the App Store version on iPhone; notifications and updates work most reliably that way. Battery saver or "close the app" settings can also block notifications; try turning those restrictions off.

How do I install it on Android?

The recommended way is to download the “OtobĂŒs Nerede” app from Google Play. The Play version is the best route for notifications and updates. For installation steps see the Install section above and open the Android tab.

Does it work on iPhone?

Yes. OtobĂŒs Nerede is now on the App Store and you can download it directly to your iPhone. For the download link see the Install section above and open the iOS tab.

Where does the data come from?

Vehicle positions, route paths and arrival estimates come live from official public transport data sources. The information is real time, though network delay or operator updates can cause a few seconds of drift. Occasionally a route or stop may appear temporarily incomplete — refreshing after a moment usually resolves it.

What about battery and data usage?

While tracking is active the app refreshes vehicle positions regularly, so it may use about as much data and battery as a regular map or navigation app. It does not run continuously in the background once tracking is off. For long trips, limiting the duration or stopping tracking when you arrive reduces consumption.

Do I need to create an account?

No. You can start using it right away without registering by email or phone. Favourites and preferences stay on your device. If you want to delete your data, see the Data Deletion page and follow the steps there.

What is the transit assistant?

An assistant (in beta) that gives you quick answers to written questions, both on the home page and in the app. For example: “Where is TB72?”, “How do I get from the bus terminal to the airport?” Open the app for questions that need your location or live tracking. There are also fixed guide pages on the same topics: where do I board TB72, nearest stop, how do I get to the bus terminal, bus terminal→airport.
